Aesthetics of fear  -  La estética del miedo

We believe that perceptions and emotions find their physical expressions in our surroundings and everyday life and can serve as loci of the social structure, tendencies, and dynamics. That is why we want to look at the ugly and beautiful in the everyday life of the Medellín city, and search for their meanings as symbols or metaphors of social fears, hopes, and relations. 

 

Questions that we ask (first phase):

1. What is the beautiful?

2. What is the ugly?

3. Why is the ugly attractive?

4. Where is it in our everyday life?

 

Objectives (2014):

1. Select the most beautiful and the most ugly places in the city of Medellín (based on individual reflections and a survey)

2. Take pictures (based on the results of survey, situations or places)

3. Modify the images (based on the interviews with experts)

4. Summarize the results (article, exhibition)
